Geode Series Part One

This series of resin geode explore the concept on colour/pattern theory as well as process application/documentation. The complex process of pouring the pigmented epoxy resin is documented throughout each stage. Capturing the fluid motion in the resin pour apprehends the natural way patterns are formed. Though the colours are artificial the motions which they flow is not. By film, I document how the colours are moved and manipulated naturally by the flow and my body. The process of deciding, selecting and mixing pigments to blend together allow the ability to manufacture feelings when viewing this series. For example, Duchess, endorses the feeling of rich, royal and imperial. This is evident form the colours and the way they merge together. This art series is vulnerable to interpretation, feelings and thoughts. It’s the audience decision on what they take away from this series or how they feel when they experience it.

215 Shades Series

The artwork “215 Shades” studies colour theory and the emotions associated with colours. Using colour sample cards on board, covered in Epoxy Resin. The use of recycled colour cards is grouped and organised to be aesthetically pleasing as well as conjoining colours with personal feelings. The way colours reflect and manipulated our feelings are foreseen through this artwork series. "It is probably the expressive qualities (primarily of colour but also of shape) that spontaneously affect the passively receiving mind, whereas the tectonic structure of pattern (characteristic of shape, but found also in colour) engages the actively organizing mind”(Amhelm, 1974). This artwork explores the passively receiving mind and how viewers interact with the works.
